The only time I took Mucinex was when I had a cold. It worked pretty good, but after a few days I felt my mucus got to thin and I felt I had a hard time coughing it up. But keep in mind, everyone's different. Give it a try!

I agree with Mag. First thing I think of is blood. As far as the chest pain, could just be from coughing and your muscles being tight. Good luck!

I used to be treated w/ Bactrim when I was little for pseudomonus (spelling?) But now I usuallyonly take it to treat MRSA. I take Cipro for one month and Tobi the next, alternating the 2 and also Zithromax e/o day.
