hi again candi,
there are several preggin cf moms right now on the site, so you are lucky! but i'll give you my story to get u started. ( the brief version)
I wanted to have a baby and went to my cf doc to talk about it, and she said I wasnt ready and my pfts had to be higher and more consistently high without the dips and peaks in them. My hubby and I had decided that we wouldn't proceed with preg until we had my doc's go ahead that it was safe. My pfts batted between (fev1) 45%-55%. She helped me come up with a routine to get them high and we said we'd take a year to do this. So I worked on that for a year, got them to 75% and held them there for about 9 months, then I started trying.
I stopped birth control, and wanted to wait at least 3 cycles to get it out of my system. The docs told me they suspected I'd have trouble conceiving, and to plan on it taking up to a year at least. I do alot nutritionally as well, and alot of natural supplements. I saw a herbal doctor and he helped my diet alot too to make my body a healthier environment. (I contribute alot of that to why I conceived so quickly, I did alot nutritionally) I did Robitussin, and used ovulation kits. I didnt do the temperature method, I figured I'd wait and see how it went and start the temps if I had trouble. To the docs shock-I conceived on the 2nd month of trying. I really believed I was going to conceive, but I was still in total shock when I saw the positive.
Who knows why it happened so quickly for me and for others, and it takes so long or never happens for some women. I have to say, it sounds like it was easy for me and of course compared to the waiting and pain some couples go through of course I cant complain-But, the preperation was HARD. I worked my butt off to get healthy and have my doc's approval and I still am working my butt off. I read and educated myself on everything possible about fertility and natural/nutritional supplements. I saw lots of health specialists and nutritionalists to help me. Its alot of work-but so worth it. I can't wait to see this baby!
If you have further more specific questions about a certain aspect of this please feel free to ask anytime or PM me, whatever you like. There's so much more that went into it than these short paragraphs. There were alot of changes my docs and I made to get me here.

Hi Candi, Christian

I'm also new to site - first posted last week looking for others who'd been through IVF - as I'm about to start it having tried to conceive for the last 3 years.

Christian - my FEV1 has also been around 50/60 - what do you think were the main things that helped you raise it so significantly. Did you change meds, exercise, change diet?

Thanks,

Elizab
