Night sweats

Yep, it can indicate your body 'working' against infections. For me, night sweats generally coincide with a lung exacerbation- immediately after IVs, I don't really have them.

    Question for Coll

Yeah I'm very excited. I think it is a good sign all the original cast (minus Daphne Rubin-Vega, she was pregnant during when the movie was filmed and so they cast Rosario Dawson instead) chose to be in it; it makes me think they have stayed very true to the play. 10 days!! <img...

    Colleen Where are you??

*waves*. Nothing to worry about, I've just been REALLLLLY busy with school and its various activities. This is actually the first weekend since school started that I have NO obligations. Field hockey has wound down finally, fall band is pretty much done, with the exception of one or two more...

    Warning: Very graphic!!

Here are some thoughts coming from a teenager (16 years old) with CF: Considering that teenagers ARE dying of CF, despite the 'average' life expectancy being 32, and all of the treatments they do diligently, I think it is a bit unfair to act as if all CF teens are unable to handle the truths of...

    Insurance covering hypertonic saline

This is semi-random, but... you have to keep your hypertonic saline cold? I was never told to do this-- it never comes with any sort of warning sticker about that. Do those of you who get the 15mL vials of HTS refridgerate your saline (prior to opening the ampule, that is)?

not a cf topic hope yous dont mind

My name is Colleen, is Gaelic and also means girl. Most people who know me semi-well call me Coll though, and so does my mom usually. I like Caelan, it's different and pretty. I personally kind of like the name Keely (not Kelly...

    CF girls and potty training

I was potty trained at about 3. It worked well for me, and I adjusted fine. I don't think I had too many accidents, at least no more than a typical newcomer to toilets. But I was reading your post and thinking, and I remembered something I always discuss with my mom when I am in the hospital...

    Perfect Bronchoscopy the first time!!!

Good news. About the needle incident- when I was about 12, I came out of a bronch speaking VERY loudly and saying over and over again "my throat hurts like HELL!" My mom was in the room (she had watched the entire bronch actually)...

    Colonic Irrigation

Melissa, I've often wondered the same thing about mucus I swallow, when sleeping or at other times I can't expectorate. I certainly never see the mucus come out the other end, LOL. I wonder what it does in our digestive system? On another note- was the colonic irrigation uncomfortable? It...

Good movies, books, or anything else?

My personal favorite is Give Me One Wish by Jacquie Gordon. It's a nonfiction, but unfortunately, the only fictional CF novels/stories I have seen are melodramatic (ie, Lurlene McDaniels "A Time To Die"), or geared toward a younger audience (ie "Stevie's Secret"). I am a junior in high school...

    Poverty Vs. CF

It's life. There are bad things in everyone's lives. I personally would say that CF is on the worse end of that spectrum, but if Mockingbird, you don't agree, then you are very lucky. However, life isn't a competition. I certainly am not going to be sitting on my death bed (hopefully decades...

What to take to the hospital for 19 month old?

Some tips: 1. Bring slippers-- for yourself and Haley. I live in my slippers at the hospital-- in fact, the last time I was there, mine got so much use that we had to toss them when I left, they were so worn LOL. 2. For me at least, they don't wake me up every four hours for vitals. They do...
