    Medicaid / VEST

Medicaid in Ohio will pay for 1 vest in a person's lifetime. So, I got a vest for free a long time ago, then got a free upgrade through the company itself (by sending back my old one). I bet you'll be able to get at least one, even if you can't get a newer version later on if they improve it. My...

    Embarrassing issue with cf

Oh heavens do I know your pain. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> I don't have any real advice for you that I've found. I've used period pads before if I had a feeling it was going to be really bad. They work, but it can be a waste of pads (which is a waste of money)...

    In need of Scandishakes

I have 3 of the vanilla powder mixes. I got them as samples at my clinic and I don't need or want them. I prefer the Boost Breeze and I don't need a lot of weight gain help anyway. I don't know if three packs are worth it to you for me to send, but I would be happy to do so if you're in...

    Deviated Septum

I just recently (about 2 months ago) had sinus surgery to clear out scar tissue and infection from a previous surgery. I also had septoplasty done. My recovery was not bad at all, just uncomfortable for a few days. Now that everything has pretty much healed over, I realize it has made a WORLD of...

    Insulin resistance

My hospital checks before and 2 hours after. I too am not sure what the point would be to take it before a meal if not for a check after. Anywho, I DO have cfrd and an insulin pump and when I go on prednisone I have to nearly triple my insulin levels because of HOW resistant I become. One thing...

Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hosp, Cleveland OH

Hey there! I'm wondering if any of you go to RB&C in cleveland for CF care. More specifically, does anyone here see Dr. Robert Stern? I'm having some problems that I hate to admit. I've always LOVED this center but am having a really hard time with communication. To make a long story short, I'm...

    drinking alcohol

I feel this way often with alcohol, too. It doesn't happen every time I drink, but it really doesn't take much to get me feeling crummy after a drink even when I'm feeling ok. Wine and beer specifically make it harder to breathe and spark coughing whereas liquor/mixed drinks don't do that as much.

    First Time PICC line

depending on what you're on antibiotic-wise, some meds are really harsh on peripheral veins and only allow regular IVs to last a day or so. I've always had that problem. A PICC line will allow you to use one line the whole time you're on abx. I've met CFers who prefer regular IVs and just have...

    Medicare & CFRD

hmmm...I always use Walgreen's for my test strips and they're always cheap (or free). I did go for a long period of time where any time I'd get diabetes stuff, I'd have to pay around $30 for it at the Walgreens pharmacy, but a month later I would get a refund check. What part of medicare is...

    Amikacin Shortage

where are you getting your amikacin from? I've been nebbing it for a month now for abscessus and I've had no problems getting refills from IV Solutions, in Texas. They're very helpful and very familiar with CF. Their website is simply ivsolutions.com. Hope this helps!
