Foods that are good for working out but not losing weight

I'm trying super hard to get fit at the moment, have taken up running, and am swimming twice a week. I'm in the early stages but I'm worried I'm going to lose a lot of weight. I want to take something along the lines of scandishake but I've read that that is mostly sugar really. Has anyone any...

Quick question about insurance in US

So during the summer I spent a night in a hospital in America. Where I'm from, I don't have to pay for anything. Anyway, a bill arrives for $2000+ which my own insurance company here sorted for me (I won't voice my opinion about how healthcare in America makes my eyes pop, or how people who...

    Why do people bother

Just having read all the confusion with CFTEAMA (and her aliases). Makes me wonder why people go to the bother, like do they have nothing better to do with their time? Or is that a bit of a harsh statement to make?!

    Prednisalone affect on Adreneline

From my (limited enough) knowledge of predinisalone, I believe the reason why it's so dangerous to suddenly stop taking it (as opposed to weaning off) is because it takes over the job of the adreneline gland so if one was to stop, you'd have no/crazy amounts of adreneline in the body causing...

General anesthetic and local anesthetic w/sedation

I understand that under general anesthetic you are under controlled unconciousness. Are you always intubated?? And if you have local anesthetic, the numb the area they are working on, but if you have sedation are you under controlled unconciousness then too? I was trying to explain this to...

    Boniva and Fosomax

I saw it mentioned in the 'early morning' thread and wondered what the difference is. Is one stronger than the other, one for people who have further progression with their bone probs? I'm on fosomax by the way. Or supposed to be on it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

    Depression question (again)

The title of my project is "Depression" and I need a subtitle. From my psychology book I have "A distortion in the person's view of reality". It's short and although it's directly out of my book I'm not sure exactly how accurate it is if you get me... If you don't feel that's accurate what do...

    Depression

Hi everyone, I was wondering for those who suffer from depression (or perhaps if you dont but you've just heard stupid comments), what sort of ignorant comments from others frustrate you? I'm kind of thinking like people who say 'he/she should cheer up' sort... If you can think of anymore...

    PICC lines?

Hi just wondered about PICC lines. I had a few when I was younger, don't remember them much. In the end they no longer worked for me as my veins were too difficult to thread through so had to get a neck line and then ports after that. Anyway do they hurt much? What are they like (feel and...

    Salt and CFers question

OK I know there is some association between salt and CF, but I've never really looked into what it is. SO: I like to pile on the salt but have cut back lately. With this salty problem is it bad if we have too much salt intake with food or bad if we don't have enough? Thanks!

    Edema in wrist

I may have the word wrong, I'm trying to say like fluid retention? I woke up this morning and my right hand felt pudgy. The edema wasn't that noticiable so I wasn't sure so I put my watch on my right hand to see if it was tight and it was. Looking at my wrist now I can see that it was infact big...

Question for those with HIGHHHHHH pfts

I see some of you would have, what I consider to be very high lung functions. ( 90% +++) As most of you know, I had a tx last year, and my lung functions had ALWAYS been very poor prior to that - I don't remember them being higher then 50-60ish. Anyway, following my transplant, I finally know...

Does anyone know where I can find the disclaimer for these forums or website which basically warns people to follow their team's medical advice and that the views expressed here are just peoples' opinions? It doesn't have to be 100pages long, I would just like to read the phrasing of it <img...

    Brown Circles Around the Eyes

I've seen a few people with cf who have big brown circles around their eyes, and if it weren't that I knew they had CF I would think they were on drugs or something! Are they caused by poor lungs or lack of oxygen, or is it due to liver problems - anyone know? Thanks
