Hi,
I'm very sad to say a great CF doc passed away on friday, (Jan 20, 2012)
Dr. Morton Schwartzman, he worked at the Joe Dimaggio CF center in Hollywood Florida since 1993 since the CF center first opened, -which is the one I go to, & not sure if anyone on these forms have been there or knew him...
My CF team called to tell me this afternoon, and I was shocked, he had been treating me since I was around 14, and he was a very nice and kinda man.

Thank you so much for posting this. Dr. Schwartzmann was my pediatric CF doc when we first moved to Florida and lived in Boca. He was at the UM CF clinic back then (Early 1970's). He was my physician during my early school years, ages 3-8.

I remember, he use to tell my mother that she and my dad were doing a great job caring for my CF and he use to call my mom "Dr." because she was very determined to do things her way.

Isn't it amazing how important a role our physicians play in our lives? CF creates a bond that time will never remove.
Thanks again

I too was followed by Dr. Schwartzman and doctor McKey with the UM Clinic in 1964 till 1976. When I then started seeing the University of Florida doctors. My family loved Dr. Schwartzman so much, my Mom would tell you it was his and her "will"that helped me stay so well for so many of my younger years! I even attended Jr. High with his daughter, we both played clarinet. He thought it was great I was playing and later marching in band. Those wind instruments really helped keep my lung function numbers looking good in my "non-compliant" high school years <img title="Cool" src="include/wysiwyg/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-cool.gif" alt="Cool" border="0" />.
My sympathies to his family and all of those that were under his care. He will be missed but remembered so fondly by his patients and their parents.
