Ive been on advair 2-3 weeks and its done alot of good for my airways..only thing i do not like is the irregular high heart beats i notice i see im more anxious to..my doctor did call me in flovent but didnt know if since its the same steroid as advair if i could just start taking it the next day?..also i like advair because i read its a bronchodialator(sp)? But is flovent a bronchodialter to? If not i wander if this would even be good for me as if im used to the advair with the bronchodialator using the flovent that doesnt have that part in it im sure ill feel tighter ..answers please

I have switched that quickly.

Flovent does not include a bronchodialter, it is just a steroid. I take Serevent in addition to Flovent so that I get both the bronchodialter and the steroid. But, I think it's the bronchodialter that can cause the heart issues and anxiety.

So you just take the serevent right after the flovent..i wander if i should ask my doctor for this

Yup. I believe my doctor has me on the bronchodialter because it helps the steroid work.
Another option you may want to try is Symbicort - it has both types of meds in one inhaler, so you don't have to pay two copays. I was on that before and the only reason I switched was because my allergist said Flovent + Serevent was safer for pregnancy.

I was switched from Advair to symbicort (the powder from the Advair was irritating) and have had good results. Flovent alone is just the steroid without the bronchodilator, so if you have an irritable heart, that may be why the doc switched you to an inhaler that has just the steroid.

It could because it too has long acting bronchodilator similar to what is in Advair.....I watch for symptoms and am monitored closely because my heart can be twitchy at times. So far, I am doing well.
