Mind over matter...if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! Just kidding. I agree and have seen in my own life how maintaining a positive outlook does make the rough patches in life more bearable. I'm not talking about having a sense of false hope, or a simple-minded "Pollyanna" attitude, but the objectivity to look at any situation and see it for what it truly is. I realize that I only have so much energy to spend each day, so I choose which things I allow to bother me and which ones I let run their course.

Even so, I recognize that there is a limit to how much we can "will ourselves" into a good frame of mind. There are times when professional assistance is needed, either by working with a therapist or a psychiatrist who can prescribe any necessary medications.

I wish all of you here at cysticfibrosis.com a healthy and HAPPY new year!

Last year I'd read an article about how adults just don't laugh as much and attributed that to their high stress levels. Article talked about children, how they laughed HUNDREDS of times each day. whereas adults -- maybe a few times a week. Keep trying to find things which amuse me It amazes me how happy go lucky DS is -- how he can find humor in practically anything. Guess I'll just have to emulate him.
