CF and type 1 diabetes

Hi there :]

I have cf and type 1 diabetes and I was just wondering if anyone else does too. I feel like an odd cfer b/c I don't have a "gaining weight" problem. I think the insulin puts the weight on me LOL I guess I want to know if anyone else has a problem with gaining too much weight with their diabetes and cf, how do you keep the weight off or under control? My doctors always (nicely) tell me that I will be one of the first cfers to be on a diet. A future THANK YOU for the future advice <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I didn't get diabetes until after my transplant, and yes, the insulin can make you gain weight. Between my lungs working properly and being able to gain weight that way, plus the insulin, I put weight on rather quickly right after my transplant. I went from 113lbs to about 153lbs within a matter of a year or so. I went to transplant clinic one time and they told me that I needed to stop gaining weight! That was the first time that I EVER heard that!!! LOL

Anyway, I tend to eat smaller portion sizes and I have my son to run after (he's 4.5) so that has helped me keep the weight in control. Good luck with whatever you attempt to do!!
