I want to share something with everyone here because recently in chat it's dawned on me, not many people know about this.

I grew up going to the CFRI's Cystic Fibrosis summer camp. I looked forward to it every year when I was a kid. What many people don't know is, it's still going on! It's evolved a lot and is not geared toward children because of cross infection. But there is still a CF gathering that takes place every single summer near San Francisco, CA for anyone connected to CF aged 15 and up.

Of course there are guidelines as far as sputum cultures, in addition to the 3 foot rule and other precautions during the week. You may not attend if you have ever cultured b. cepacia or if you have cultured MRSA within the last 2 years.

For more information you can go to the CFRI website. http://cfri.org Once you enter the site in the upper right hand corner, click on the "Events" button. Then click on the hyperlink for "CFRI Teen and Adult Day Retreat" Next download the 3 PDF documents all about Retreat.

Also, if your only reason for not attending is because of financial hardship there is a scholarship application available. It is set up to cover travel (airfare, bus, train) as well as the retreat registration costs and overnight accommodation costs. This scholarship was set up in the memory of a faithful camper named Kelly. I knew Kelly personally and she had the most infectious smile and laugh. She wanted to be sure no one was turned away from camp because of cost so her sister set up this fund to help make sure anyone that wants the retreat experience is able to do so. If you want a scholarship application, please PM me and I will send you the document via email.

Below is a little email I recently received about the upcoming retreat.

The Annual CFRI Teen & Adult Day Retreat is just a few months away. Our theme this year is CF Club Med: Retreat of a Lifetime! and we have lots of great theme related activities planned. In addition to these fun activities we also have many supportive Rap sessions and educational workshops planned. Attached is a copy of the registration packet. Your help in getting your forms turned in as early as possible and confirming your attendance would be most appreciated. ***the registration packets can be found at http://cfri.org

Of course we would love for you to stay for the entire week however we also welcome those that may only be able stay for a day or two. Soon I will send out an agenda detailing the planned activities. So stay tuned for additional announcements!

Dates to keep in mind:
--Registration forms due by July 25th
--Have your sputum cultures done between June 20th and July 31st

Cost:
Retreat Fees: The cost of the Day Retreat is $65 per person for the entire week. Daily fees are $15 per day for visitors or $10 per meal for those who drop in for a meal only.

Overnight fees:
A room at the Vallombrosa Center is $40 per person per night. Payment for overnight accommodations at the Vallombrosa Center is due upon arrival. If you plan on staying at Vallombrosa please let me know so that I may reserve you a room.

We do not want anyone to miss Retreat due to financial reasons so scholarships are available to assist with both the Day Retreat costs and overnight fees.

***Many thanks to Kristy Collins and her family who are once again generously sponsoring the travel and overnight scholarship program. Funds are available to offset overnight and travel fees. Attached is the application!***

***PM me, tara, for the scholarship application.

For me, retreat is like a whole other universe. Everyone there, "gets it" and there are no embarrassing moments. To be honest it's hard to transition back to the "real world" once you've gone to retreat, because retreat is like a little slice of heaven. It's a very powerful place.
