Children and colloidal silver

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with colloidal silver, especially in regards to giving it to children. My daughter with CF has cultured MRSA for 5 years. I have read about some adults having success with it, but I don't know how safe it is. I am just interested in it and researching it right now, I do not plan on giving anything to my child before talking to her doctor obviously, but any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

there was someone on healthboards who mentioned giving it to their small child and was horrified they were even nebbing it, but IMO, I'd be VERY concerned about the quality of the product among other things. Isn't there a guy in Washington state who turned blue from taking too much silver orally?

The guy who turned blue, took colloidal silver like water for like 15 years! I have used ionic silver (works differently, I think it takes a proton from certain bacterias and thats how it kills it) for years now, mainly like I use hydrogen and peroxide. I use it on cuts, burns (which they use it in hospitals for even though the FDA or someone tried to get them to stop). I use it to gargle with when I start to feel a sore throat (IT WORKS!). I used to use it w/ stomach issues, but I dont do that anymore b/c I am already on enough abx to kill whats in my guts (good and bad). I used it on my face when I was having acne problems. My grandma swears by it and she often carries it in a spray bottle and sprays the air when someone coughs (it was a joke at her last job haha). It could all be a placebo effect, but I find it works well for the uses I have found.

@OP
I am also interested in nebulizing it, but never will b/c its not sterile when made in my home (even though it has antibiotic properties). My dad and grandma and grandpa (all w/o CF) have used my old nebulizers or their own with colloidial (though what we make is actually ionic silver) when they have colds and stuff. My grandma is very into looking up alternative methods, but of course since in the US non of that is regulated it is hard to "risk" trying it. The stories sound too good to be true sometimes, but I agree though that a lot of the alternative methods are cheap and easily made which equals no money for pharm companies (I know thats a sort of conspiracy theory, but it doesnt sound to out of the question for me to believe if it was ever found to be true).

National Jewish in Denver (who deal with non-tuberculosis mycobacterias) I believe are actually doing some clinical trials with it inhaled, though last time I found out about it, there wasnt much being released. I would love to get in on the clinical trial though!

Lastly, it never hurts to 'search' the keyword ''silver'' because I know there have been posts on it before but I dont remember everything they entail.

I doubt your doctor will let you nebulize it though, my old adult doctor was very skeptical of alternative methods (ironically, she works for a pharm company now... the one who made cayston), and when I told her I used silver for my various reasons, she said, "Well all I see it doing is making your poop sparkly."

@thelostmiler: you nearly right. as you said you actually use ionic silver. the answer is in the name. the silver particle is an positively charged ion, so can "steal" elektrons from other molecules. it can take an elektron from an oxygen atom in onecelled organisms (bacteria). that lets the oxygen collapse an the bacteria dies.

You will not turn blue from pure colloidal silver research it. Try it yourself before giving it to your child. It is a personal decision. not to be judged by anyone elese. Your cf doctor cannot go along with the use of it. Should we leave our children with MRSA just because america does not have a good med for it.The warnings on the meds we use are unbelievable compared to silver,glutathione,probiotics, and other natural things that can help our cf community.These things are not going to be researched and we will never be told that it is okay to use them.

We used inhaled ionic silver and hydrogen peroxide last Summer with our 12 year old daughter. We believe that it really helped her sx at the time and the eradication of pseudomonas. Prior to using it, we spoke with different chemists and manufacturers and ultimately chose a preferred method, which followed guidelines created by a chemist and manufacturer, who was highly knowledgable and happy to assist us. If anyone would like that information, please feel free to email me at poignand@yahoo.com, and I will forward you to my husband, who can be most helpful with this. I will add a precaution that I became curious about...During the time we used this method, my daughter became anxious about the structure of her day and the whereabouts of her parents. I am not sure if is developmental or if her concerns may have exacerbated by the compounds. I am a mental health specialist and have observed side effects such as this with other antibiotic regimines. Good luck and peace. Courtney
