clinic's protocol for antibiotics?

Hi,

My son has a upper respiratory virus and sore throat. He is not coughing but is productive during his airway clearance (huff coughing and vest). I'm curious...What is your clinic's protocol for treating with antibiotics when you or your child has an upper respiratory infection?

Our doctor is a bit more proactive than most. Usually will prescribe an antibiotic based on previous cultures. We also bump up vest from 3x a day to 4 or 5.

Our clinic has us bump treatments to 4x a day and if not improving in about 3 days then does an antibiotic based on prior culture.

I just had a cold 2 months ago. They prescribed me Levaquin for 10 days. Albuterol every 6 hours as needed.
