Hi all,
I'm sorry we haven't been here to post earlier. Anna was called for her second transplant at about 4:20 pm the afternoon of Good Friday. My youngest daughter and I had decided to fly in to spend Easter with Anna and Liza and had landed at 4 pm. As a result we were able to spend a wonderful Good Friday and Saturday morning together. Anna was in great spirits and ready to go. She had lots of visitors until the early hours Saturday. She entered the OR at 9:30 am Saturday.
We found out about the complications at 2 am Sunday. Liza, Rachel, her mother in law and I were able to be with her a few times through the night and when she died Easter morning at 9:40 am.
The particular complications Anna had were unique and unusual. The surgical staff did their best but there was no real chance to change the outcome. If you're on the list for a second, or first, transplant please don't let Anna's outcome change your thinking.

This is the first time I've been able to come on here. I want to thank you all so very much for your kind words about Anna' aka CountryGirl.
I want to let anyone know who is considering a transplant that Anna' always said, this journey was worth it. After her first transplant when she had a really horrible night with pain control, she wondered if she'd made a mistake. A couple of days later she said, it was the right choice. After getting diagnosed with chronic rejection, she said, knowing everything she knew about transplant and even if she only got a couple of extra years, she'd do it all over again. It was worth the risk. Each time she had the mindset that she'd be that patient to break records.
So I say to each of you, set your mind to being that patient that's going to break the records. Stay as active as you possibly can and build your leg strength. And after transplant do as many of those things that you always wanted to do as you can. Remember you got those new lungs to LIVE!

Anna's family:

I am a fellow CFer and I just wanted to let you know that Anna was such a wonderful and kind person. She always had insightful posts and she will be forever missed. I am doing the Great Strides walk this Sunday and along with the other friends we have lost on here, I will be dedicating the walk to Anna as well on our tee-shirts. Love and prayers,
Kristen
