Since I left the hospital (ok 3 days ago) when I sleep I have the weirdest dreams. last nights actually woke me up in a panic and SOB. I was dreaming that I was dying and couldn't breathe and I told my friends to let me die that I was done. I am also waking up throughout the night drenched in sweat. Even with a sheet on and the window cracked. And the night before I had dreams I was suffocating. I didn't have any in the hosp when I was on O2 at night.

My ? is (before I go tell my DR and look like an idiot) could this be because I need O2 at night? My appt is on Wed and we are going to talk about getting O2 for home for when I am feeling under the weather. I want to mention the weird dreams and sweats but not if I will look stupid. I figured I would get your opinions first

So whatcha think?

Amy, things to look for as far as needing O2 at night. Waking up and your heart is pounding very hard, headaches, feeling tired all day. When I say tired, I mean you could sleep every chance you get. Feeling nauseated when you wake up, like you want to throw up. I am not sure about the night sweats. You may also still be recovering and need some O2 for a bit longer. I would mention it to your doc. Better safe than sorry. BTW, if you are still on some antibiotics I think they cause weird dreams too. I am on Levaquin right now and I have a very very weird dream every single night, ughh!

My best to you and I am glad you are feeling better

When I am short of breath from being sicker sometimes I have those kind of dreams as well. Suffocating or whatever. It isn't caused by O2 though because I usually sat 95-97% even when I'm sick and sleeping. But anything that causes shortness of breath I think could probably have an influence on your dreams. Actually, I had a similar dream earlier today when I was napping but earlier in the day I had noticed I couldn't breathe well. Kind of congested today. FWIW I have been at 98-99% O2 all day.

Amy, when my stats used to be low before I got my home concentrator, I used to have terrible dreams and would wake up with splitting headaches. I was also waking up often and would find myself gasping for a couple of breaths right after waking up.

That said, are you still on IVs? Those things sometimes give me night fevers (very low grade) which can cause sweating and weird dreams.

Good luck getting it fixed. Those dreams do NOT sound fun
