Hi, my name is carolynn i am an Industrial Design student from milwaukee WI. I do not have CF but my Boyfreind and his brother both do. For my Senior Thesis i am redesigning "the vest".

I was wondering if people could tell me the problems they have occured with thier vest or any respritory therapy at all... or have seen with thier family memebers.

What do you like about the vest you have,
Which vest and other theropys do you use.
Is it hard for you to use..
Where in the house do you do the therapy.
Do you travel with the vest? Is it difficult?
Do you find it effective?
Dose it hurt to bad?
Dose your medi-port get in the way.
If you are female dose it hurt the breast area?
Dose it ride up?
Is it not vibrating enough on places you need it to?
Dose it work for you?


Any thing anyone can tell me will be most helpful and greatly appreiciated. I know thier are many individual proplems with current models and i would like to attend to those. I will keep every updated on the progress made on my design <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Hopefully it will be th next best thing hehe.... THANK YOU

This could be good..... I think this should be moved/copied to the adult section as well.

I don't have a vest myself but I'm also a designer, and I think it's a great idea!

i dont realy fined that it works i fined that regular chest therapy works better. i dont travil with it. my problem with it is that it slides up.

What do you like about the vest you have? It is easy to use and i feel that it works for me.

Which vest and other theropys do you use. nebs that include albuterol, deanase, Tobi, and calistomethane.

Is it hard for you to use.. no, mine is easy to use.

Where in the house do you do the therapy. I sit on the couch next to the t.v. and do it.

Do you travel with the vest? Is it difficult? yes, i have it gets checked for a bomb in every airport and it is a pain cause it should be taken as carry-on and it is hard to walk through the plane with it.

Do you find it effective? ya, it helps break up the mucus and bring it up.

Dose it hurt to bad? not really the first couple of times it makes ur chest red but then u get used to it.

Dose your medi-port get in the way. not really it doe snot get in the way.

Dose it ride up? if it is to loose or to low then yes it does ride up but i usually have it at the right space so i does nto ride up.

it's only half an hour, dna's albuterol, serevent, collistine, tobi,......,no,in living room by t.v.,not really I just take inhalers and my brother takes his flutter and inhalers... I don't have a flutter,no,I think the vest is really annoying because when your trying to do something like homework or watch t.v. sometimes you can't hear it and your vision goes blurry,sometimes,yes,yes,no,not really..... also don't leave your vest on the floor if you have a cat... they'll pee on it and the smell never comes off! =)

I think this is such an amazing project WOOT!... The vest is nice in the travel size but i think that the actual vest could use some work...

I like to lay down when i do my vest so i can sleep sometimes... it jurts to layback because it puts so much pressure... if almost it were tighter.. and the vibration was a t different frequencies.. you know like when you are in a concert and you can feel the base in your chest... or like the kind in a vibrating chair...
i dont know how that would work but they are som ideas. also... FOR GIRLS it really really hurty your boobs. Hate to say it blunt like that but its TRUE! lol

i think the vest should use a smaller machine hook up and longer
yet smaller hoses<br>

because it is to hard to maneuver and take with you to other places
and i also sit<br>
on the couch when i do my vest and watch tv<br>

i have the vest and it sits in the bag i need to give it back because i never use it I hate that thing its just annoying, uncomfortable, takes to much of my time, and loud and i did i say i hate it, some many other better options they need to just get rid of it.

What do you like about the vest you have, I like that I can do it alone (doesn't involve someone pounding on your chest) and it doesn't hurt like chest pt.
Which vest and other theropys do you use. I use the thairapy vest, chest pt and what they call Huff coughs.
Is it hard for you to use.. Yes because sometimes it feels like it is suffacoating me and you can use it if you have eaten recently otherwise you puke.
Where in the house do you do the therapy. I use it in my bedrooom.
Do you travel with the vest? Is it difficult? No way it is way to hard to travel with it.
Do you find it effective? Yea as long as you use it the rightway it is very effective.
Dose it hurt to bad? No but it does take some getting used to.
Dose your medi-port get in the way. Yea escepially if it is acessed

hi m8 is it 2late 2 assist u in yor project, mite be able to lend a hand or advice i done my degree in eng Bsc/BEng, i no a way to reduce size of the works by using dif tech no lg motors to gen vibration if ur interested still/ im cj speak soon
