Disability Questions.

A little background on me: I am 26, FEV1 has been around 50% for a little over a year, I just started cycling tobi for a month on month off in February, I have been on IVs once. I have had a rough year health-wise (CF and nonCF related stuff) and I have decided that I can't work full time anymore. I am going to clinic on the 21st and will have my doc write a note for my work to cut me back to 32 hours a week, that should help for a while without totally screwing me financially.

What I need to know is: does anyone know of a good website where I can get more info on disability (I live in Washington if that makes a difference)?

I was told that if I am on Tobi for 6 months then I should qualify, is this true?

Can I qualify for even partial disability if my doc says that working full time is not recommended?

Will they look at what my income was last year?

How many hours a week can I still work or how much money can I make and still qualify for partial disability?

I will take partial disability if thats all I can get, but ideally I would like to not have to work at all. With my situation is this even feasable?

Thanks in advance guys!!

I'll try to help. Hopefully I'm accurate in my information.

As far as I know, either you're disabled or you're not, so there is no "partial disability" that I'm aware of.

You can work part time while on SSDI as long as you don't make over 670 a month, or something close to that amount.

Here is a website that shows medical requirements for SSDI:
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/3.00-Respiratory-Adult.htm#3.04%20Cystic%20fibrosis">SSDI</a>

Yes, they base the amount you get off of what you've made in the last few quarters.

Let us know if you have other questions.

Froggy <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Come see me at work if you can find some time!!! Or PM me your email and I'll send you a lot of information on this.

The statement of being on tobi for 6 months will qualify you is not true. You have to be on tobi for an active lung infection at least 2x a year. This is the easiest impairment listing to meet. If you are just on every other month usage, without proof of a lung infection then you are SOL.

Lets chat more about this. Do you still have my #? Call me!
