Do you enjoy hospital stays?

So I've only been hospitalized twice for strict CF reasons (not including birth, and once i got the flu in 3rd grade, but those wont count)

I've discovered that I actually enjoy hospital stays a bit, and I feel really guilty for it.
My first stay was mid Freshman year, so 2007, 2008 ish for a bowel obstruction. I was in for 5 days and slept like you wouldn't believe. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything during that time but I slept sooooo much that it wasn't a problem. I'll say that that was the BEST sleep I've ever gotten.
Mostly I loved that I 1. didn't have to DO anything, in a really good way. It was so nice just having to focus on getting well, and resting and having everything so simple.

Stay #2: Actually was over this past Christmas break (went home right before Xmas, yay!). I grew something funky (I've lost track of what by now) and needed IV antibiotics and a PICC line and my first tune up. This time i was fully conscience during the whole stay but it was a nice 5 days as well. My Dr. suggested to the hospital that I stay in the Mother/Baby ward (!!!!!!!!!!! ) due to construction in PEDS and it was nice.

so, basically. I dont mind hospital stays, yet. It's just nice to take a break in a sense from the world. At times it was boring and not so fun, but in the long run I dont mind. My Dr. said she may want be to go back every 3 months or so and I could really care less, so.... yeah

I have to say this made me chuckle....just a bit I do not have CF but my son does and I hate the hospital! So much, in fact, I have nightmares about it....ugh! I know this is because I can't stand to see my child suffer!! However, I think he likes going!! The child life team is amazing and he always gets lots of presents. He also loves the nurses and Mommy and Daddy stay with him. We usually have so much fun. I can see him enjoying it as long as nothing big happens. He hated this last time because he has a bronch and couldn't eat all day because it was in the evening.
I was only in the hospital once and that was to have Marty. I hated it then too. No privacy and no sleep! LOL
Anyways, I think it is good that you can make the best of things. There is no sense in hating it when it is something that must be done! Good luck to you and I hope for many good nights of sleep for you!!!

I am the exact opposite. I HATE the hospital. To the point that my doctor has let me leave early because I was such a mess. I can't sleep there because someone comes in every three hours to take my vitals, even during the night. Also, every time I have gone they have messed up my medications. I am someone who hates to lose control so it is very hard for me in the hospital.

I am due for a clean up soon and my doctor said that they would like to try the hospital again. I am doing everything in my power to fight that.

I hate it, my docs don't make me go in unless absolutely need to, I do all my ivs at home. They end up have to give me pain meds from the beds screwing up my back, including morphine. Plus sleeping pills even to get 3-4 hrs of sleep. There's a couple times I've gotten worse in the hospital as well

I have a love/hate relationship with the hospital. Sure it's nice to kick back and do nothing while i'm recovering and the staff is pretty awesome too. But when you're in as often as i've been in which is 2 times a year (4 times last year) you get sick of the food and the extra CPTs, especially the one at 4 am o_O

I would say I have a love/hate relationship with the hospital too! When I was younger I hated it but now it isn't so bad since I am over 18 and can make my own decisions and can refuse to do stupid things that I hate. I don't like the hospital when I'm at home and I hate having to go in but I am here right now and it is kind of nice to get away from the world. I kinda needed a break I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything so it is nice to not have to think about "normal" stuff for a little but It would be nice to be back home and actually get to sleep for an entire night for once.
