For Women about Birth Control

So, I have wanted to go off the patch for two years - I feel sometimes that the hormones in it have affected my moods. Course women are typically moody but I wasn't always like this. So I am searching out non-hormonal options. But of course I like the spontinaiety of being on the patch - no need to worry. I don't want to get pregnant and am considering using the Sponge as it is available again in this country.
Just wondering what experiences other women have had, and if most use a hormonal therapy. My husband supports my decision, but I don't want to make a rash decision.
When will they come out with the male 'Pill'!

Anyway, just looking for some thoughts on whether others have experienced mood swings on BC, and if others out there use barrier methods and find them to work.

I have NEVER used birth control pills or the patch or anything that has a hormonal componant. I have either used condoms (well my guy has) and I now have an IUD. IUD's use to get a bad rap for health problems, but I have had mine for 8 1/2 years now and have had no problems. The one I have has an average life span of 10 years. I would definitely go with another IUD again. There is no worry about inserting or forgetting.

This is an option, but since it is still considered an invasive surgery be sure you are healthy enough for it. I thought about this, but wasnt ready to make that step. Not that I will have more children, but I didnt want to go thru the surgery yet.

Tubes being tied is not an options I'm not looking for permanent solution right now, we want to have children - good Lord willing, in the near future - like a couple years. Thanks for the thought.

Is it just the moodiness that you don't like about the patch? There are low-dose pill options that have fewer negative side effects like that (Yaz is one of them).

I had to quit taking the pill because it was causing me liver problems.

If you are planning on starting a family in a couple years, you might want to go with a nonhormonal bc, to let your body get back in the swing of things, so to speak .

Btw, we don't use birth control due to having it built in, apparently .
