anyone get your health ins to pay for an eflow?
i really want one bc i can't do my tobi around my baby, and its so much to lug my big neb around the house, also i travel alot.
my therapist said they are $1600. My hubby said that we can get it if i need it, but i'd really like to get ins to pay for it.

so this is news to me-and I'm shocked there hasn't been more talk about this around here.
karen-you touched on it. my nurse just called and said that the doc is not reccomending eflow to anyone bc of safety issues-she said it has been linked to 2 patient deaths. she said they don't know how it really nebs meds-specifically tobi, and whether or not its delivering it fully.
don't see how they can call that a 'link' to patient deaths per se.
she said they can get me an ultrasonic omron-but i have one already and i HATE it.no offense to omron, but it takes 20-25 mins just to do albuterol. its not worth the time. i have taken it on vaca, not knowing that, and pt's have taken 1 hr or more.
so i'm stuck. i really need a portable, and one that actually works. i just hope that they aren't giving me a line b/c its difficult to get or something like that. if it really poses a danger, i don't want it of course. but i need anything that will help me get these therapies done more efficently.

called the nurse to push the issue some more. figured I'd compromise and only do my non tobi or pulmozyme meds. the doc said she will not prescribe it to anyone. they do not feel it is safe. it is not fda approved. and they are very sorry.
so thats that. it sucks. i don't know if its true, but i do trust my doc very very much. she is wise and hasn't steered me in the wrong direction yet. i guess its better to go w the better safe than sorry theory. even if she is wrong, or was given wrong info-its ok, bc i trust her and our relationship is good.
for now I'll try to pari sprint nebs for my other drugs and stick to the lc plus's for tobi and such.

Have you contacted the folks at e-flow. I would start there. They would know how to initiate the fight to get it covered. Just a thought. BTW, I would also encourage you to do some research on using Tobi in the e-flow. There are many on here who do and some have chosen not to until there is more information about its safety. There will be some people on here who don't like me saying that; but, I think that people need to know there is some controversy out there on that topic.

I went through Foundation Care as well to lease mine. The nice thing about leasing it as opposed to buying it outright, is that when it's leased they will send you a new filter after a certain number of usage hours. They keep track of that for you based on what your prescription is.
