Hi CF community
This group is great and helped us a lot.
I'm a parent of a recently diagnostic CF 8 year old girl. She had two positive sweat tests and we are waiting for the mutation test results.
She has tried Haloterapy (Salt Rooms), and we saw good result in releasing and ticketing the mucus.
In my opinion, it is one of the most efficient therapyes that she used.
I'm writing you to:
1º-Know your opinion about Haloterapy.
2º-Do you know any portable Device that we can use at home?
I have searched and found the following:

Thanks for you help

Due to potential cross contamination issues and my concerns with how well salt rooms are kept clean, I'm pretty apprehensive about it. There is a CF treatment which involves nebulizing hypertonic saline. Also regular saline sinus rinses do wonders for breaking down the crud in ones nasal passages.

Yeah, wouldn't do a salt room for reasons ratatosk says but would strongly recommend hyper sal...our son says that held him mets...although she he can't feel what pulmozyme is doing! But she does need a broncialdialtor before hyper sal.

Hi
I agree that the problem of doing Haloterapy on Salt Rooms is the cross contamination.

We have found that Haloterapy is quite good for lungs clearence.
That is why we decided to do it at home, only for her.

We were not sure about the portable devices, so decided to buy one Haloterapy machine as
on the salt rooms and do it at home with a tent.

The machine is expensive.

Thanks you all for your help.
Best Regards

I've tried four different salt rooms this year.
Three of the operators used pharmaceutical grade salt which was amazing. One used natural salt which just left me feeling sore.

In my experience the Halotherapy worked very well. I'm fortunate enough that I can hit the gym x5 days a week and after getting Halotherapy my rest times decreased and I hit new personal bests on the cardio machines.

With regards to cross contamination there is a cleaning process where after each session the air is vented out and clean air is filtered in. This takes around fifteen munutes.

I was so blown away by the results that I've set up my own salt room, mainly for personal use but I will be using it as a business aswell.

I was initially skeptical but minutes into my first treatment I felt a difference =)
