Hearing Loss

Hello all! I'm 20 yr old CFer (soon to be 21.) I am on tobramycin often, so I occasionally have my hearing checked. The last few times I was on Tobra, my kidneys were having trouble clearing it from my system. Anyhow, when I got my hearing tested, the results said that I had moderate-severe hearing loss in my right ear at high frequencies. Fortunately, this is not in the range of speech, but it is very close to it. Has anyone else had problems like this? Mary

Hello!I am new to this thread BUT, i am on tobramycin A LOT... i too have lost a chunk of my hearing, but thankfully not yet into the speaking range... So you are not alone.... The last time i was on it they had to skip about 5 doses (not in a row but every couple days) cause they were frying my kidneys with it... this happens to me a lot with IV meds, i recall nurses running to me when i was little to stop a med cause my levels for it were too high.... i wish that this wouldn't happen cause i need the meds and my kidneys.... Toodles from Julie18wcf, 3 sisters no CF lucky them
