How awesome is your doctor?

My doctors and team reply to my emails fast! Always call me right back, I have some of their cell phone numbers. Are very supportive of my goals and work with me to do things I want to try. How fast does my doctor reply? While on vacation? In under 1-2minuntes at 4AM! Coincidence you say? Nope, this has happened thrice!

So lets play a little game here, by rating our doctors. At the top of the thread, you will see the star rating, rate your doctor out of 5 stars. This will generate the average star rating for CF doctors among users on the forum! In addition write your star rating in your post when you reply so we can see who has the rotten apples.
My doctors rating: 5 Stars.
Average rating among the users:
EDIT: I just realized I can't rate my own thread. So I guess we will wait for other people!

2. I'm pretty unhappy with my clinic - I get the sense they are overwhelmed and they whole team is becoming apathetic.

LOTS of mistakes, never saying sorry. We are treated like #s, not like people.

I am actually looking for another CF center in my area - I may actually go to a non-accredited center because the situation has progressed so negatively over the past year or so.

We'll see how it goes. I'm thrilled to hear that others are happy with their centers.... that's awesome news because this disease can get so intense and complicated.

I've only seen my new doc once. He seems pretty aggressive, but the rest of the team....eh. The nurse coordinator is great, though.

If I were to just rate my doc, 4. If I were to rate the whole system, 3.

My doc gets a 4, they are pretty good.....the whole pulmo team knows me and I am very comfortable with their care if he isn't there.. BTW, I don't go to a CF accredited center, still a university hospital with a physician who specializes in bronchiectasis (and has a few CF'ers under his care). I am happiest under the care of this team, been to others, but feel that these guys call back quickly when I need something, within minutes usually and most importantly, listen to me.. If I feel I need to be admitted, then they will get right on it and I will have a bed before the day is out.

My doctors and CF team get 5. I've experienced doctors who were far too rushed during the appointment and didn't properly follow up. So now I really appreciate my new (for the past 3 years) CF team. They are timely, responsible, dedicated and positive.

My old docs at Children's were amazing, especially my primary CF doc there, she was basically like a second (third? I'm adopted so the "Mom Count" is weird) mom to me and the rest of the team is great as well defiantly five stars. Now that I am at the University the docs have been wonderful, but I haven't seen them enough to make a judgment yet. what I really like, and I don't know if this is a Pacific Northwest thing, is how both teams have emphasized the importance of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of my health as a system that needs to be wholly functioning and as a result work with me to manage my the aspects of my beyond just the CF (i.e., making sure that I can leave during a cleanout to perform with the Orchestra or go hang out with friends even when it would be better for my lungs to stay put).
They are good people and I'm glad other people have good experiences with their docs as well.

My dr gets a 4.9.
I docked them a bit bc of phone communication issues, and usually thats around prescriptions. It shouldn't take, imo, 3 phone calls to get a script filled. But that would be the fault of the staff, not the docs. But as captain of the office ship-the docs need to step in. There are always delays or miscommunicated messages. I find the delays very irritating. A patients life is hard enough-you shouldn't have to feel like you are nagging, calling someone multiple times bc of prescriptions. Its a small thing they could do, to make our lives just a TINY bit easier.
My relationship with my team is really important to me though. They are like extended family. The bottom line is, I trust my doctor. I have my docs cell #, and my nurses. When I've had a baby, or been sick, she'll call in the middle of the night to check on me. She'll text to see how I am, how the kids are even. They'll text me 9pm on a friday just to see how I am and if I need anything. They've bent over backwards to help me with things, from logistics of parenting with Cf, traveling, family issues, etc. My doctor also embraces the whole body philosophy of cf care. She has an accupuncturist on staff, and has had staff come in to offer patients massage.
Also, when you live with cf and have 2 children of your own, you really see how a relationship with the cf team is tested and what it can accomplish. My team has been supportive of my childbirth choices, my choice of birthing hospital, doulas, etc..and have gone to GREAT lengths to help me do what I want to do, but be safe.
The numbers speak for themselves. When I found my doctor, my pfts were hovering between 55-60. The past decade, they've increased to 70-75 consistently. Bc of the changes she made when I first found her, and the instruction she gave, and the time she took to personally teach me to improve my chest pt technique.
