After a 21-day stay recently, I wondered what others do to pass the time and keep from going crazy. I don't have much family who can visit me so some of the days are really long....

I'm in the hospital now. Luckily the hospital has Wi-Fi so I can enjoy my laptop for entertainment. I also have books to read. Sometimes I just grab some blank paper and write what is on my mind. I'm not much for watching TV, especially the little 19" screen so high up on the wall, LOL!

Hi middle aged lady <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> It's me, the now 40 year old lady. Sorry to hear you had to get admitted. I have not had that happen yet but, when I do my home IV's I tend to be pretty weak and little energy. Knitting is a great, low energy required, task and it's fun creating warm stuff with soft yarns and wooden needles (even if I do live in Florida). I also journal, read and spend lots of time on the computer. I write & listen to music. And when I'm feeling well enough I practice voice/sing. (This would prove quite interesting in the hospital :0 ) Music is so important to wellness. I also love watching classic movies.
I find IV time a perfect time to catch up on back issues of magazine subscriptions. My last course of IV's I caught up on all the CF Roundtables (two or three years worth) and most of my Yoga Journals!

I dont usually get bored in the hospital. Weekdays are usually quite busy. Weekends can drag a bit, but if I dont have visitors (which is quite often) then I just take the time to veg, catch up on sleep, surf the web, use the TV remote (difficult to do at my house LOL).

Reading is often difficult for me in the hospital. Seems like I cant focus &/or my eyesight isnt up to par.

I average 3 weeks or more in the hospital & I can count on my hands the number of times I can say I have been bored.

Guess I am not much help!
