I am here at Duke. I was admitted on Tuesday. Sorry I havent given an update, I've been really busy & tired. They are giving me Zyvox & VFen by oral abx. I am also on Colistin and Fortaz by IVs, every 8 hrs. They are treating me for MRSA, mucoid & non-mucoid PA, & Aspergillus. They have done the blood test to see if it is ABPA, but the test has not come back yet. I am having some side effects from the Colistin, slight loss of balance/wobbling, numb lips and tip of tongue, & some itching on my head and face. I was also told that my protein level in my blood was low, not sure how that happens. They have talked about an appetite stimulant, but will hold off until another blood test comes back. So, that means I need to force myself to eat. Which would be alot easier if they brought me some good food. Other than that, things are going fine. They did meantion something about me getting out on Saturday. I will let you guys know if anything changes. Colistin is my last option to fight the PA, I hope I can handle the medicine and hope it does its job. If it doesnt, I dont know what will happen. Please keep me in your prayers. Take care.
