I will say a prayer that the meds do the trick for you....<img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

I wanted to let you know i had some of the same issues as you with the protein level in the blood being low, and i also had the numbness in the tongue and lips with the Colistin.
Make sure with each meal you eat a good amount of protein. Also make sure to eat well several times a day. I know thats easier said than done when in the hospital since most have lousy food.

Update -
I am going to be released on Saturday...Woohoo! However, I will be going home on all the meds. I have been having a lot of itching on my scalp and face. They stopped the VFen to see if that was causing it, but they are guessing it is the Colistin. They have given me Benadryl and Zantac (yes, the antacid) for the itching. My lips and tongue are still numb feeling (Diane, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had that. I thought it was a strange side effect. Plus, it feels sooo weird). Sometimes it is stronger than others. I am still a little off balance when walking. Good news is that my Sats are up to 93-96% and my sputum has begun to lighten up and not taste as bad. My coughing spells have decreased as well. The test for ABPA has not come back yet, they said it would take 5-7 days. They want me to eat more protein, but my weight is fine, so I dont need to gain too much. So, no appetite stimulant, just protein rich food (PB, cheese, turkey, ice cream, milk, etc.), if that doesnt work then they said I need to go to GNC and buy some protein powder. Diane, does the Colistin make the protein level low? I will probably be able to get my level up more at home because, as you said, hospital food is lousy.

Thanks for the prayers everyone. I know they are working. I will keep you guys updated.
