Doctor,I have ran in several 5K races in the last few years. My times have gotten better but still are pretty crappy. My fastest time was <27 min. I have tried different training techniques. Normally, I will alternate days running a "quick" mile on one then pacing myself the next for the entire 3.1. I keep thinking I will meet somewhere in the middle, thus far unsuccessful! This year I have set my goal to be <26min. Any suggestions? My pulmonary function is categorized as mild and my oxygen diffusion capacity is normalLuke 29/cf

Have you tried cross training as a means to strengthen your running? Have you manipulated your diet to benefit your running? I am training for a 10K in June. I have found tons of information on how to equip and improve the body for running, not to mention dietary suppliments which help the body recover from intense exercise. Though, at this point i am not concerned with my time, i would like to finish in an hour, if i am lucky.
