Coughing and asthma can certainly do that, at least in my experience. Sometimes you just need to give the muscles a break via a relaxer. In my case, that kind of tightness, be it in the back, side, or front, often leads to rib fractures, so I am very very cautions about it. Have you been coughing above baseline lately, or dong anything to additionally strain those muscles?

What iv done is over strained myself using the vest my muscles i can feel them stretching is weird ..can this make your oxygen lower since it refrains you from expanding as well as you could?..also my micus completely dried up an i couldnt even shift anything because i guess i straimed my rib muscles to much using the vest..i usualy do it twice aday 30mins a session..but i upped it to 3x a day 30mins guess i shouldnt have done the third time so long? Could you possibly dealing with pancreatitis or even an acute pancreatic attack?

Like heart attacks that present referred pain to the left shoulder and arm, the pancreas, and gall bladder refer pain to the back, both more or less between the shoulder blades. The gall bladder and pancreas actually have different locations where the referred pain presents. This is a fresh topic for me as I am entering my third week of an acute pancreatic attack.

A deep radiating pain from that spot on my back has all the paraspinal muscles surrounding, locked in spasm. This has gone on long enough that a deep breath is near to impossible and a cough feels like my ribs separate inhaling and grind during the cough. I am sore to the touch in my upper torso feeling like a large tender bruise radiating from my upper middle back out around to about where the boney rib meets up with cartilage.

When my back first froze up I spiked a 103.5 fever and the first indication to me was a lung infection as I had aspirated sleeping several consecutive days prior. I had a painful, productive cough and then my pancreas which had been hot for the prior month went acute. I was on antibiotics within an hour of my fever spike, but really didn't know if I was treating an infection, and where. To assure you I am not just making a competing complaint, my pain is well managed and I am fine. I sometimes slack off on pain meds to get a read on what's going on with my body.
