Is everyone on Prevacid?

I was reading another post about the enzyme calculation and note that prevacid was mentioned a lot.

Is that standard? My daughter hasn't been prescribed that yet. We have been having such difficulty getting her enzymes right. I wonder if that would help us.

My son isn't on prevacid. He never had a weight issue until now. Since his enzyme dose is already so high we tried adding zantac to help the enzymes work better. I don't notice any difference so I am going to ask the doctor about switching to prevacid this month. It does seem like a lot of people are on it though.

With this hospitalization due to his weight loss and cough ,they put him on prevacid upon admission and i have to say it seems to make them enzymes work better because he plumped up and he has not loss no weight in the last week upon being out and the added benefit we discovered was he has reflux so it is beneficial. he is 4 now and just been put on it.

My 5 yr old was on zantac at first then prilosec and has been on prevacid for about 2 years. I don't know if it really makes a difference or not, he has always been on a medication like that.

my son was put on zantac as a baby(before we knew he had cf)because of his stomach pain and reflux. Then when he was about 4 he had to have 3 of his back teeth pulled because the stomach acid was eating them away. His ped. GI then switched him to prevacid. He initially took 1 twice daily, but about two years ago she cut him back to just one. I think it does help alot with his enzymes as well. He has maalox max(with the calcium) as a standby for times when his stomach still hurts him-extra gas, or maybe something was too spicy.
does anyone know of any long-term effects(negative) dealing with prevacid?
Just curious since it seems he will be taking this for a long time.

My daughters have been on Prilosec and Zantac over the years. My oldest one is now on Prevacid, and it seems to being helping her. My youngest is on generic Prilosec, and handles that good too. My younger one suffered terrible reflux, so we tried everything with her as an infant.

We have over the years tried taking them off these, but they do not gain weight without them. These medications really have helped in making the enzymes work better.

My oldest one was having horrible stomach aches every morning, and we started giving her 1 dose of Prevacid in the morning and 1 in the evening, and the stomach aches went away and the weight gain started going full force. Sometimes I am amazed at what a difference can be seen by just changing something as simple as adding a dose in the evening!
