Josh is in the hospital

I took Josh[my husband] to the hospital yesterday. He has been really run down and in general not feeling well. He cultured positive for B. Cepacia 2 weeks ago, and has been really down about it. I hate seeing him this way he's ussually a strong person and lately seems almost like he is giving up. I know he's not...he says he has to much to fight for. Hopfully he will only have to stay the usual 2 weeks. I hate leaving him there, I would stay if I could. They started the Zosyn last night, so it should work soon

His body is probably reacting heavily to the cepacia. It might take a bit longer for him to bounce back with the attemept to kick its butt!

I know its disheartening, but be patient!

I really can understand how your husband feels. When I cultured B. cepacia, my heart just sank. REading all of that stuff about it on the internet scared the hell out of me. That was about 4 years ago. There are other members who have had it for over a decade.
How people do regarding this bug varies. Some will culture it and show no real problems with their PFT's, others have more serious problems as a result. At least that is my understanding. I seem to fall in the realm of the people who pretty much stay baseline with the bug with exacerbations at times.
Maybe your husband should have a good heart to heart with the doc and ask any and all questions that are on his mind.
I hope that your husband feels better soon and that the Zosyn kicks butt.
Keeping you in my thoughts
