life insurance

Does anyone know of a life insurance that takes on people with CF? I have insurance now through my job. But have been wondering because I have been off for a year now and if I ever get fired, I would have nothing. Anyway I was curious if anyone knows of anything I could check into. Thanks.

My husband is covered under state farm, where we also have our car insurance, renters insurance, California earthquake insurance-and as I already mentioned, the life insurance. They know he has CF and he is covered and has been for about 6 or 7 years now.

Thanks Julie, I actually go to state farm cars, house. I am such a blonde, I didn't even think of them. How silly. Honestly I scare myself sometimes. I actually thought we might have to go somewhere speical instead of a place thats right under my nose. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">

It's more expensive than mine, but only because he is three years older than me (and was older when he purchased it a that premium rate) and Men tend to be slightly higher. We use do have more, but right now we only have 50k for him through state farm, because the military automoatically covers him when they cover me as active duty. We pay something like $15 a month for his 50k, and no physicals, doctor screenings or anything like that.

Julie, how long has he had the policy? How much coverage ($) does your hubby have? And how much are your payments? Are you absolutely certain they know he has CF?

Hi Becky
I also have life insurance, but it is through Prudential. My premiums are about $675/year, for $100,000 policy. I have had the policy for 12 years. They definitely know I have CF, there is a lot of paperwork to fill out initially, physical, blood work and they require medical records before you are insured. The premiums are a bit higher because I have cf, but it is because I am 'higher risk'. Still, I think it is worth it. Good luck!

I already wrote it above, but he has had the policy for about 6 years now, he use to have 150,000 coverage for $30 every month and they know he has CF. Now i have him covered at 150,000 FREE through the military, so we took is coverage through state farm down to 50,000 and his premium is $15 a month.

I was always under the impression that I was basically "uninsurable" because the premiums would be thru the roof!! I am amazed to find some CF people who have Life Insurance! While we are on the subject does anyone have a individual medical policy???? With the medical coverage I was under the impression that I could not be insured because the premium would be sky high too! Curious???
