i apologize for posting something here that is off topic, but i thought some of you adult cfers might know a thing or two about mold's effects on health.
my mom made an offer on a condo today and there was an inspection done on it ~6 weeks ago that said there was "a mold like substance" below the house (in the crawl space). from the inspection, we're not certain how much or what kind of mold may be there. as part of the offer, we are going to ask that they have it removed/cleaned, but i know some kinds of mold you can't ever really remove. our next step is probably going to be to have the mold tested.
so my questions are, assuming there is some kind of mold down there, and that it isn't the infamous black mold, do you think that it being under the condo could have a serious effect on the condo itself? could it get inside? if we had it cleaned, would it most likely be a reoccurring problem or would that depend on the type of mold?
my mom has pretty bad asthma and allergies (not sure if to mold specifically) and i wouldn't want her getting into a situation that could be bad for her health. but we also have been looking for a place for her for about 2 years now and this is the first one that has everything she wants, so we don't want to make a big deal out of this if it is something we can keep under control. the realtor told us that most houses will have a little bit of some kind of mold underneath them.
thanks in advance for any input.
