On a plane with another CF'er....what do you do?

Hello all,
I am flying to FL with my niece. We both have CF. What precautions do you take when flying with another CF'er? I don't want to be right on top of her and breathing on each other & I don't want to pass anything along to her. Are masks good enough? We can both wear one. I just don't want her to feel 'weird' for wearing a mask on the plane.
But looking 'weird' is better than passing any 'bugs'.
Thanks for any advice.

Stay at least 3 ft. away from eachother. Definitely don't sit next to eachother. Both wear masks, no eating which would require you/her to take mask off, don't touch any belongings of eachothers. Both should have a travel size bottle of Purell if you can manage to get on the plane with it.

yeah, i don't know, sounds like a less than ideal situation... masks, sitting apart and purell sound like your best bet.

I was going to suggest the 3 foot rule also. wearing the masks is a great idea. Hmmmmmmmm come to think of it, Lauren said everything i would have suggested....lol . Maybe if the airline doesnt allow the bottle of handsanitizer, you can get the handsanitizer hand wipes or alcohol wipes if it comes down to that. I would keep the handsanitizer with you even if there wasnt another cf'r on the plane. If i am correct they dont wipe off the arms on the seats after each flight, so who knows what you can get from that alone.

If you are worried about cross contamination, maybe when you book the seats, one of you can sit toward the front of the plane and the other one toward the back...

If it were me, honestly, it would be a tough call for me, I would rather sit next to someone I know (or a seat or two away from them) and know what bugs they have, then to sit next to a stranger that could transmit something to me that I don't know. Though I don't recommend being on top of each other and three feet rule is what they say....

I tend to get sick more when my guard is down then when I am around another "sick person" where I wash my hands a million times

I hope you have a wonderful trip...

I'm around my niece all the time and we are VERY careful so I'm not freaked out by traveling with her, I just want to make sure we are safe. I'm going to try to sit in the seats across from her, I can't put her in the front of the plane and me in the back because she is 7 and this is basically her 1st time flying (she was a baby the 1st time).
So thanks for the advice and I will take Purell or wipes if I can't take the Purell, great suggestion!

I often wear a mask on an airplane, believing that I have become sick in the past from others on an airplane ... I find I am explaining myself to adults, "no, I am not infectious"...and kids look at me funny.
Does anyone else wear a mask on an airplane?
