Hi Trent.

One of the best places to get insurance is through an employer with many employees, making up a large group plan. I don't know it that's an option for you or not though. I'm fortunate enough to be covered by my husband who works for our state's University. It's a very large group, fairly low premiums and good coverage. I used to work for our public school which also had a very good group plan.

I think if you told us what state you live in that may help people respond with some ideas specific to your state, as state programs vary. Here in Nebraska for example we have whats called the Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool or CHIP. High risk individuals can buy into a large group (or pool) and get good coverage with fairly low premiums and good coverage. Also with the CHIP program there is no waiting period for pre-existing conditions. I'm wondering if they have something similar in your state. I'm not sure that would help you with coverage with you future spouse?

Another word of advice (you probably already know this), don't let your parents insurance policy lapse before finding new coverage. If it does, make sure for no longer than 63 days or it will potentially create havoc in finding a new policy.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. I'm sure you'll get some great ideas from others on here. Good luck, I know how stressful dealing with insurance issues can be.

Congrats on the engagement by the way.

Take Care

Talking to the Social Worker at your CF center would be an excellent place to start. If one doesn't regularly speak with you at your appointments you could ask to speak to them. I'm not sure but I think all accredited CF centers have a social worker on staff. Our SW is always very knowledgeable and helpful with insurance issues.

Sorry, it's me again <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I just noticed where this was posted. I would suggest you move this to the "adult" section. I think you are more likely to get more responses there.
