Pre Existing?!

Have had NO help getting ANY meds OR clinic coverage for him. Have applied for help with every govt agency I know of, state or otherwise. For one, I make $238 too much ANNUALLY to receive help. For another, even though my income would qualify me, they want me to sell my house, car, and empty my itty bitty retirement acct before I get any help. For another, they won't cover anythign because he has insurance. Insurance won't cover it because they call it a pre-existing condition. Spoke to legal hotline. They said with 12,000 calls in, this is a first for them. They said I am completely in the right, so I guess in addition to fighting CF, I have a legal battle ahead of me, too. Not only will I sue for the coverage, but for the amount of time that they have shortened his life because of their greed.

Contact your local news agency they may be able to help escalate the issue quickly.
pre-existing? what isn't...I think every issue probably has a gene associated with it. They just haven't been discovered yet. up until 1989 would it have been pre-existing? nope...
they aren't treating the CF...they are treating the conditions which CF may or may not cause increased susceptibility to...because there is a gene that increases the likely hood of a condition manifesting itself doesn't sound like a pre-existing condition to me...Check with some of the drug manufactures there are a few with excellent programs so I've heard. Contact them directly. Please post what you end up doing. If I lost my job I would be in the same position...I'd probably have to get divorced so we could get help ;(...What meds do you need and maybe some others can help do some research for you?

I am sorry to hear of all this trouble. Perhaps contacting your local congressman/senator esp now when one of the items all seem to agree on is pre-existing clause of insurance companies. I hope you get favorable resolution soon it is hard enough to worry about your child's health without having to worry about fighting ins company. I would also have the insurance company send you a copy of your plan's summary plan description so you can verify this pre existing clause how its worded etc
