Since I am posting, what did you mean by "Oh, and like in the days of HS when I had often cultured PA, I feel sleepy in the daytime and can take a nap and still sleep well at night." Do you mean, that while using hypertonic saline you were regularly colonized w/ PA?? Not sure what you meant by HS so I am curious.

Christina, I believe HS = High School (not HTS) <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Fellow FDL-er here. 3+ is the amount of growth the PA has on a plate post dilution. The laboratory technician within microbiology will usually take some of your phlegm, and plate it out. They then take the PA off the original plate and plate it out more times at varying dilutions, wait a few days (can't remember if it is 3, 5 or 7), and then 'read' the plates. Read meaning that they determine if there is trace, 1+, 2+, 3+, 4+, or confluent growth. So, 3+ shows fairly heavy PA in your lungs which I would personally correlate to your symptoms right now. I had 3+ growth last fall and was very tired, all the time. Also had night sweats, generally feeling crappy. I took a round (30 days) of neb'ed TOBI.

I hope you are feeling better soon, and definitely work toward getting something to knock the buggers down.

Thanks Christina for the info. I thought HS was a given for the meaning "High School" like LOL was a given meaning for "Laugh Out Loud".

In my High School days, I was always dragging when I had an infection. I'd come home, sleep an hour or two and go to bed at 10pm that night without any trouble. I'd also sleep almost all weekend. Even now, I end up crashing out at my desk at work, on the train to work and back home, and I've been trying to make it a point to get to bed before 11pm at the latest though I feel I need to make it much earlier.

depending on my schedule this week or next, I may take a day off to see the doc. Since I won't be at this company at the end of October, I gotta use up all my holidays anyway cause they'll all go to waste when my contract ends.

I forgot to add..I wonder if you also know who "Coach O" is? Or maybe just the ones that went to ST. Mary's (I think thats the HS)

Fred,
Sorry to hear you are culturing PA. Hopefully you can get on some abx and get things under control.

Yup, Coach O was at St. Mary's Spring HS. I don't think Christina went to Springs though.

Hope you fee better soon!

A little bizarre that 4 of us (that I know of) on CF.com are from Fondy. Small world!
