Question regarding blockage

Hi all

S, my 13 yr old, has been complaining of stomach pains for the last few days (four days). He tells me that when he passes a stool the pain reutrns.

He's been passing loose stools, a few times a day (which is unual for him, it's usually less), and says that the pain returns afterward.

I'm concerned he may have a partial blockage, and some stool is moving past it. I've purchased some prune juice which some adults wcf said they used, and hope that might do the trick.

Should I be worried, and what other things do you adults suggest?

Thanks

Sounds like he probably needs some milk of magnesia or miralax. One of those laxatives that draws water out to get things moving in the colon. I would be concerned if he stopped stooling altogether and/or began to vomit.

Is his stomach rather hard? That was one of the symptoms ds had when he was a baby and we knew he needed a little extra help. Once he had an xray which showed a lot of stool in the colon (constipation) yet he still had somewhat loose stools that made it past all that stuff.

I had a full intestinal blockage that required surgery and I can tell you that leading up to it I had a lot of throwing up and pain that stopped me from walking. Miralax can be a good drug, as suggested above, or you can try a little homemade recipe that really clears me out: 2 tsp of sea salt in 32 oz of luke warm water (shake so the salt blends) and drink as fast as you can. About 30 minutes later, things should be moving.

Also, take a look at his stool. A partial blockage will often make the poop very skinny and almost look like little worms. The fact that he's pooping is a VERY good sign though.
