So, when do you take these when you are trying to get pregnant? do you just take them every day or do u take them during your period? And which one works better? You take one pill twice a day with mucinex and how much of the robitussin do u take? thanx fo rthe info...

First off-<i>the big robitussin debate......</i> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
I am doing the Robitussin, but just wanted to make sure you know it is plain gaufenessin (sp?)-Not Robitussin Cough or anything else, just the expectorant. Give me a cyber slap if you know this-but all the other cough meds have stuff in them are bad for cfers-that's why most docs will tell you not to take robitussin to get preggin. Ok.

I don't like Mucinex. Some people love it. But it messed with my lungs too much. I think I just had a bad reaction. So I prefer the liquid robitussin.

I start taking Robitussin on day 10 of my cycle. (I typically ovulate on day 17 of my cycle). So if you start ovulating like most, on day 14-then maybe start the Rob on day 8. I take one tbls. 3 times a day until day 19 or so-2-3 days after I've already ovulated (to be on the safe side).

I track my cycles and when I started doing the Robitussin I got the 'normal' cervical mucus for the first time in my life. So it is working for me.(hopefully)

I will say this though-taking the Robitussin has affected my lungs. I cough up so much more and I cough at night b/c its making my sinus mucus thinner which is dripping down to my lungs. I can tell if I wasn't in tip top shape and religious with my therapies-It would not be good for me to take the robitussin. It's none of my business-but if I were you I'd just make sure your lungs are in the best possible shape they can be before you begin this huge undertaking.

Hope this helps a teeny bit. Take Care!!

I wonder how critical it is to have the normal cervical mucus to get pregnant? Christian, have you run across anyone that got pregnant with classic CF cervical mucus (rubber cement glob-like)? I think I am going to try this approach before doing robi or mucinex.

Also I think it's interesting that you ovulate on day 17 when you have a really long cycle (I think you told me 40 days). The reason I find this interesting is I thought everyone had a luteal phase of around 12-16 days. This would make your luteal more like 23 days...

Also what brand of test are you using to detect ovulation? I used 'Answer' but am wanting to switch it up this month.

I haven't come across anyone who has gotten pregnant and had the typical cf mucus, but that doesn't mean that hasn't happened-I just can't remember anyone saying that in particular.
Holly catheryn's website might have some info on that.

I use the First response brand(purple box). I used to use clear blue easy ovulation tests, but I like the first response better. For me, they show more of my lh than the blue easy. I don't have one of those expensive machines. I'll keep using these as long as they work ok.

Yes I have a longer cycle, and therefore a longer luteal phase. I think its from coming off the bc-my body regulates itself now and I just don't have that typical "28" day cycles. The doctor isn't concerned with it though. So that's a relief.
