Ok, I was replying to SD's post and it disappeared! It was not that offensive I felt. Good grief--the only person who had replyed was Melissa. What was so bad that you had to erase SD's post.? At the risk of offending someone, I too, have begun to be annoyed by the frequency of posting of birthdays of people we had never heard of being wished a happy birthday, and then we should mandatory wish a generic b-day to this person that we had never heard of before!

Please don't castrate SD. We need all kinds here, and I think that we, as the general populace, can tell when someone is out of line. I, of all people, do not want to muzzle opionions here. Please give us a chance to respond before pulling someone off the forum. SD has been an important member of this site, he has the right to his voice just like amy or allie, or anyone else. If I am alone in this opinon than so be it.

There is censorship, and then there is censorship--what just happened here was totally unfair--I feel. And I am from the generation that was more censored than any other in history!
Bring back SD'S post, and allow free converstion.

But, don't get me wrong, Jeanne and Bill have worked hard to be fair to everyone, and I really appreciate it. But this automatic birthday messages. . . When I signed onto the birthday site, I thought it would be a calendar in each blog, and people could respond how they saw fit. I would not have signed up if people were made to feel that they HAD to wish me happy birthday.

Again, I appreciate Bill and Jeanne efforts.

The birthday post doesn't go by blogs.
In your profile under miscellaneous options you have a birthday form option, if you've filled that out it'll show up on the bday calendar. If you've left it blank it doesn't go up.

*edited to say*
Additionally the birthday posts are automatic, probably a bot produced message which automatically posts on the forums when a birthday appears on the calendar.

If you don't like the amount of 'happy birthday _______' I would suggest blocking the bot/user "Birthdays."

But I think wishing someone happy birthday should be in the OT section. (I didn't see SD's post, so I'm not sure what he said).

But on some days the wishing someone Happy Birthday takes up 4 threads out of the 15 that can be displayed on one page.

If you want to wish everyone happy birthday, go to OT.

The birthday thing is getting distracting and excessive.

Not to be offensive here, but if you dont like the b-day messages, dont open them....ignore them like you would any post you dont want to open. I agree it can be annoying to some extent that names we have never heard of seem to pop up on the b-day topics, but i for one am glad to respond anyway, because a cf'er with a birthday is a GREAT thing regardless if i know them or not. I would hate to see the birthday posts go in the offtopic thread because i and many others do not ever venture there. I tend to stay on here and go nowhere else. Like i and others have said before, i dont have all day to click on all the different threads, i prefer everything be in one place....kind of like a one stop shopping deal.

Terri,

This is one subject we disagree on. SD has a few posts on here that are informative and helpful but most of the time he is here just to make trouble.

I did not see his latest post, so I have no idea what it is about, but I feel the forums are much happier and calm when he is not around. I am not saying he starts all of the trouble, but I like that they censor SD. If they didn't there would always be trouble around here.

The b-day topics do not bother me at all. I think it is nice that they post them.

Just my opinion.....I know everyone will not agree!

Is this the post you were referring to?

I just see how many people love this community. The more suggestions and opinions the better.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I like SD as a person and value some of his opinions. When his views are different than mine, I do what I do with anyone else on here...I dont read it or reply to it.
As far as the birthday thing, I also think it should be on th OT...but hey, shouldnt we all be glad someone with C/F made it to another birthday?
