Hi all! First of all, I want to thank Terri for calling me at the hospital. That was such a nice thing to do, we talked for quite some time. Even with a vent, I can chatter away!LOL! It has officially been over 2 months in the slammer for me....It was supposed to be for a total of 3 weeks....*sigh* of IV's. So many complications, failure to knock down the colonies of cepacia, feeling crappy, more IV's, fevers and then more fevers to make a very long story short. I have been transferred to the ICU at UConn for a more aggressive workup as to where these temps are coming from. Good news, there are no bacteria in the blood, my sputum isn't nearly as bad as it was when I was first hospitalized. The docs are awaiting more tests, trialing taking me off of antibiotics to see what happens. They are hoping it is a drug related fever, really easy to fix. If I spike temps after they do that, then we have another whole new ballgame. Keep your fingers crossed...I am crossing everything that could possibly be crossed. Hugs and prayers to all who need them...Jenn

Here I am bothering you with Q's in Thrush thread. Sorry!

I had unknown fevers once. The dr. at the time did basically nothing for 2 weeks then they finally admitted me and did a bunch of tests. No help. fever went away and I went home with IVs "just in case". I hope this is nothing for you too. Get some sleep.

Hell, I will stomp and rawr with ya, at this point I have maybe a hair of patience left...even that is impressive after staring at beige hospital walls for the last two months. Sleep deprived??? Yep....gonna be interesting once I get home, it will be too quiet and creepy. Every time I drift off, another dose of those IV's are due. I open my eyes and there is a nurse with a bag of the nuke juice. Zosyn is one of them...I don't know about you guys but that stuff is horrible! I feel like my insides are shredded and the dietitian wonders why I have lost weight...Hmmm......I actually premedicate with Zofran before that antibiotic is given. Home...how nice that will be! Hugs, Jenn

Cyndi, you aren't bothering me!! I don't mind questions at all....that's interesting that you had fevers like that. I read that some fevers never get answered as far as what is causing them. I know that there are so many reasons why someone could run them. Did you have any other symptoms with your fevers such as soaking sweats or headaches? I drench the bed with my sweats, it was no wonder I became dehydrated. My bed is changed 3 or 4 times a day here because I could float out. My fevers began as soon as the second round of IV's finished..I was slated to go home, the paperwork was all ready and then the temps began....sputim initially was negative, but was positive after the second culture for high cepacia colonies so on IV's again. I started to feel good, then about 4 or 5 days into the treatment, higher fevers.....of course, all with sweats, aches too. Just crazy.....Hugs to you, Jenn

Jenn, Zofran is good stuff! Josh lived on it last year when he was on all the abx. He had fevers for weeks too. Once they figured out the right combination of meds, they got better.

One time he got the fevers from Bactrim. He's on Bactrim all the time, but this was just an overload with the other things. We kept telling the docs, but they didn't believe us until we showed them a log we kept with times of fever and doses of bactrim. Its so complicated sometimes.

You've been in a long time. I really hope you feel better soon!
