The novel features a 16 year old girl with CF, who is active and healthy. Her parents and sibling are not coping well and there is a serious break-down in communication between them all. CF complicates matters and the fight is on to help them learn to support each other.
I have tried to portray an accurate picture of issues CF sufferers deal with on a daily basis and introduce some less obvious problems that CF creates.
The sequel I am working on will take my character forward. If you have any suggestions of awkward situations a young woman might face in her late teens and early twenties, please let me know. There will be ups and downs with her health, but I am more interested in the emotional issues. You can respond on the forum, or if you prefer you can send a private message.
The idea behind Breathless was to convey some of the problems faced by CF sufferers and give readers a deeper understanding of the many complications that the families have to contend with.
Any suggestions for ways to promote Breathless to raise more for funds for CF research would be most welcome.
