Oh, for pete's sake! CF pre-natal screening is getting on the books state by state, so, just because you've already got the kid the doctors are balking? I mean, it's time to switch pediatricians!!! I'm so sorry what parents are put through when we are NOT the medical "experts," and yet, the care of the child MUST be parent-driven... Keep fighting the good fight, dear!!!

We fired our pediatrician today and will see a new one on Monday. I'm learning that I need to be bold and proactive for my child's health and wellbeing. This is a wonderful site. Thank you!

That sounds alot like my situation. His ped. refuses to do a cf test, so I got a 2nd opinion and we go in on tuesday. My son is 22 months and always has something. He is a very energetic and happy boy, but is always sick. He cant just get a cold. Last year the doctor told me he had croup(6 times). Then then said maybe asthma. Now with his second case of pneumonia in 4 months I want some kind of answer. What are the ranges for the sweat test? I am just trying to gather as much info before my appointment,so I can feel some what knowledgeable on the situation.
Thank you,
Heather

Sweat tests aren't incredibly reliable. Many many CFers get a false negative. Though, FYI, you cannot get a false positive.

The ranges are as follows:
Below 40 is negative.
40-60 is borderline.
Above 60 is positive.

Though, like I said, sweat tests aren't very reliable. I would push for a genetic blood test, rather than a sweat test.
