Hey, Kate.

My mom has an underactive thyroid, which makes her very tired, kind of grumpy, and have weight issues (when she's not on meds).
I guess (mom just told me this) that they wanted to actually test me for it too, and Mary, and Megan.

Hope this helps

Kate,
First of all, what a very cute picture of you! <img src="i/expressions/camera.gif" border="0">
Years ago it was discovered that my thyroid was out of balance and all I have to do is take a pill every day to keep it in balance. Hopefully this will be all you need to do as well. Let us know what you find out.

I have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) and I have alot of problems gaining weight. I also have problems with very dry skin and my hair falling out at times which they say is because of my thyroid. I have to take a pill once a day and have labwork done every 3 months to keep things in line. When I was first diagnosed I had a goiter (knot in my throat) and they gave me some radiation to make it go away.

I also had an overactive thyroid. I also had a goiter. They started me on medication, but the goiter did not go away. In 2001, I had 3/4 of my thyroid gland removed. I now take medication as a thyroid replacement. It's funny, for a long time the CF doc said it was not related to the CF, but my endocrinologist believes it IS probably the cause. By the way, I had problems with the goiter since I was a young girl...no one even thought to check it.
