TOBI tolerance

do you guys notice that your ability to tolerate TOBI comes and goes?

i can't figure it out... i've been really sick before and had trouble with it; i've been really sick and been fine. last time i was on it longer than 4 weeks to coincide with iv treatment, my docs took me off it b/c they thought my airways were reacting to it.

i've been cycling tobi since then month on-month off, and the last week or so i'm again feeling slightly short of breath after my hypertonic and my TOBI.

time to stop?

I haven't been able to tolerate it fully for over 2 years. That said, nothing else seems to kill pseudo like it. For that reason I've tried it 3 or 4 times since then. Sometimes I only make it for 14-20 days. Other times a little longer. At any rate, my side effects i.e. shortness of breath, aren't always as bad, but they are always there. I tried it with the eflow and it seemed to be better. You might want to try that.

I have a similar problem with Tobi. I had to quit using it for a couple of years, due to SOB. I also have had problems with Tobra since then too. But I discovered that if I do my Advair right before my Tobi, I can tolerate it. If I forget it once, that's the end- the SOB won't go away after that unless I stop the Tobi. Ask your doctor though if you are on Advair and want to try it .

The other thing that seems to have helped is the oral GSH. I have been doing it for a few months now, and last time I did Tobi (I don't cycle, I just do it when I am sick, due to the SOB issue), I did the whole dose from the beginning, instead of the 2/3s to 3/4 dose I have been having to do. And I did that dose for 3 weeks, until I forgot my Advair...*slaps forehead*

My son had a bad effect from TOBI, after some two years OK. So his doctor told him to have 2 inhales of Ventilan (salbutamol) prior to the TOBi, and he's much better now! :)
