Tobramyocin vs. Colistin

i am always on colistin as well. i HATE tobi - ick ick ick. There is fairly logical reasoning that you might feel better though. (i am sure there is someone who can put this better than i can) but from what i understand is pa becomes resistant to tobi a lot quicker than colistin. From how my doc explained it it is rare that someone becomes resistant to colistin but it is common to be resistant to tobi. This is also why it is ok to take colistin for long periods without cycling it. Although some docs still prescribe drugs after the patient becomes resistant i am thinking in this case colistin would be the more effective drug. Hope that makes sense<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

The new thing coming out is inhaled aztreonam. If yoo go to the Gilead Web site, you can see some of the details.
There is also a dry powder inhaled form of colistin being developed in Europe. It's going to be called Colobreathe. I am quite close the guys doing this work, and they say the results of phase III will be out soon, and it all looks promising.
