Does anyone know if Cleveland or U of Mich list cepacia patients for transplant? I just found out that Nationwide in Columbus is not accepting patients because thier medical director is leaving. And of course, I just finished my evals and testing in Columbus.
I live near Toledo, so U of M and Cleveland are close and Pitt is about 4 hours away.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Mark...sorry that I am just getting to you. I don't come on this site very often. Yes, Cleveland Clinic does list patients who have Cepacia...or at least I'm pretty sure they do.

Pitt is widely known for accepting cepacia patients. I know of at least one woman with cepacia who received her lungs there. You can check out her blog at http://jamiebug.blogspot.com/

Piper is right. University of Pittsburgh will consider Cepacia. In fact I personally know 2 other Cepacia patients who also received transplants there. One just a few months before me and the other exactly one year after mine. I have also heard that Cleveland might consider Cepacia. The surgeon who did my transplant is now at Cleveland. . . so it would be worth looking into. Good Luck & feel free to contact me or ask me any questions.

Thanks for the input. I found out that Cleveland won't accept me. I guess I have too many other problems. For a while my insurance company wouldn't go through Pittsburg, but now they have approved it. Now I just have to start the process in Pittsburg.
