We are listening!

We are waiting for information about an "upgrade" to the forums. Our goal is to make these messages easy to navigate and to protect the over 60,000 searchable ones we have. The new upgrade will include a lot of other features...weblogs for one and knowledge based database (may be wonderful for searching by topic for those doing research)...I am so excited about this project and so appreciative to all of you for your patience and love!

Warm Regards,
Jeanne

I too think that we are getting way to many categories here. I did like the OT initially and still do as it gets the most traffic compared to the more frequented "adults", "families" and "teens" section.

I agree, I think young adults is just the same as teens. There may be some young adults who are offended it if is called "teens" so maybe the two should be merged to say "teens and Young adults" or just "young adults.

I do like the supplements section, although I am a bit biased on the matter since my husband has grown up in the supplement/health food industry and we've been getting a lot of supplement questions lately. Since that doctor is never on to post on the Exercise and fitness fourm anymore and hasn't for about a year, maybe the supplement forum can be combined.

I also DO like the transplant section, it's nice to be able to go to one place and look up something like that.

I think maybe prayer requests and religion can be combined as they are posted on occasionally but contain very similar posts.

I just think that when there are too many forums #1, it confuses new posters AND I think it takes away from what the forum has to offer the CF community.

These of course are just suggestions and my opinions...

I agree with you, there are too many sections. I was just trying to remember where I posted to see if I had any comments. Less is always more <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I agree with most of you. I think it is important to have a transplant section for two reasons. The first is not all cF patients want to think about a transplant and to have it in their faces every other day. The second is when people are new coming into this site they need to be aware that a transplant is an option. Like Joanne said in one her posts, not all CF doctors tell their patients about a transplant for various reasons. I think each person who is new to the CF world should see the options out there. So having a section is fine. I myself have a website devoted to transplantation and I could easily say visit so and so but rather have it available first hand for others to have it as a resource on this website.

I think remembering and Prayers could be combined. We could add Inspirational messages of hope on it as well.

The Teens and young adults could be combined. Families is good to have by its own.

Supplements, recipes, exercise creative things to do should all go under one category. This could be like a small talk/laughter section

I think off topics could be under the Small talk section.

Kelly, I like your lay out. It is good to be reminded across the top of the page what sections there are. I asked a few weeks ago for this. Then somone replied and said that is why we have the drop down menu. I like the way you do this. You are most talented

Definitely keep the ideas coming...

Remember we are limited to the software...we are going for the mega upgrade which still may not have the perfect design features ...categories across the top like we all want.

BillD is absolutely amazing and I know the software will be taken to the max in his hands.

We have to save the 60,000+ messages and that is why we're going with the same company.

This message database is only about a year old. All the other messages (8 or 9 years worth) were lost with a not so strong database, that couldn't be imported into the new software we purchased a year or so ago.

This is why we're committed to the company, we know can service the messages we already have.

Of course, if we had unlimited funds, then we would have the forum designed for our database.

The more ideas you give, the more we get.

Thanks for all your input!

Thanks, Risa.

What does the red exclamation point mean that shows up on some of these posts? How do you put it there and what do they mean?
