went into emergency room last night

my fellow CFers. I have been suffering with pressure in my left lung since tues. It comes and goes...every few minutes. I also had a fast heart beat (not terrible) around 95 beats per minute. So finally last night I went into the ER they gave me every test for my heart and said all was good. They sent me away with a script for nexium. I have never taken nexium before. I thought it was only for heartburn (which I dont have).  So my lungs are infected but they always are..my white blood count was high. Anyway, does anyone have experience with pressure in their lungs?  It feels like it is on my heart but again they told me my heart is good.  I am baffled. This is a new experience for me. I have had experiences in the past where I had a stabbing pain and had infection but never a feeling like this.  Can anyone give me advice?

I have never had 'presssure' before in my lungs. I have had the stabbing pains when I breathe in which was most likely pulled muscles since I went to the ER and they couldn't find anything with Xrays and chest scans.

I would call your CF doctor on call or wait to see them in their office next week. If ER didn't find anything wrong, they are usually thorough.

Did they do a chest x-ray? I personally haven't had luck with er because they don't seem to know much about cf and usually can't wait to get rid of me.

Yea I was wondering about an xray... so your heart beat was faster at times, but how were your sats? Could it be lung related like a collasped lung or something like that? I think some people have pressure w/ those and not much pain if any. I didnt have any pain or pressure really with my partial lung collaspe... but when they reinflated it w/ a chest tube I felt like bricks had been set on my chest instead of lifted off which is how most people feel they said...

I agree with Mag6125, local ERs are really a last resort b/c they dont deal w/ CF so they do the best they can... but typically I have them in contact with the on-call doctor at my cf hospital.

I agree.  I would follow up w/ your CF drs.  Did you ask why they gave you Nexium ?  Also I think an x-ray would have been in order, maybe even a CT scan..  If it is possibly a heart problem then you should prob see a cardiac dr.  While emergency rooms can be helpful, they do make mistakes..   I hope you get some answers soon !  I know how frustrating it can be.  Take care & keep us posted...

I agree...would definately follow-up with your CF doctor. Hope you feel better! And you should get an xray of your lungs. Good luck <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

thanks all, I had an XRay at the ER. It came back with lung damge...the usual. It was not a collapsed lung. I had a collapsed lung on the right side two years ago so I remember the pain. I did not want a CT because I have them too often and I am afraid of all the radiation my body is taking in. I have been in contact with my CF center and I am going to see them tues. My SAts were 98.
