I went to my cf clinic today for my follow up visit. My fev1 was up 1 number i was sort of disappointed, but i figure one number up is better than one down. My fvc was up 2 points. My weight is up a pound and a half. This is all good.
About the sed rate level, my Dr. mentioned several things..... it could be something called "serum sickness", which can happen from being on iv antitiobics too often, which i have been the last 8 months. I normally do not need them every 2 - 3 months like i have recently.
He also said it could just be the cepacia.
He did another blood test to see if the sed rate has gone down since the last test. The last test was done while i was still on iv's, so if the rate is dramatically lower this time the serum sickness may be the culprit. He still wants me to see a reumatologist though to rule out other stuff. All in all it wasnt a bad visit i guess.
