what exactly is a barrel chest?

recently I've been hearing about a barrel chest, which I'm pretty sure I have, but I'm not positive what it is. I used to think I just had a really big rib cage because I could never zip any dresses - if they fit in the hips or waist they'd be way too tight in the chest. I have D breasts as well, so basically NOTHING ever fits me on top. There's nothing I can do about this problem, is there? It's really irritating me.-scarlett

Hi,I have a slight barrell chest too. It's where the ribcage is slightly larger in the upper parts of the chest. I am very self conscious about it too! AND, I also have a very hard time finding clothes to fit. I wear a size 12 bathing suit, and when people find that out, they can't believe it because I look smaller than that. But the reason for the larger sizes is because of my ribcage being larger!Also, because of the barrell chest, posture may not be so great because of a rounding of the shoulders. So be sure to do lots of back and chest exercises to help with posture, I highly recommend yoga!Goodluck,A cf friend<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
