What song do you relate your CF fight to

"It Only Makes me Laugh" by Oingo Boingo. That song spoke to me as I was going through highschool and fighting to feel normal. I can exclaim that I really had an uneventful youth through college timeframe with CF despite being daignosed with CF at 18 months (1970) and being homozygous with delta f-508. I was clearly affected but controlled on several great medications and a vainly competitive athletic spirit. Yet I knew I was in a constant fight and looked years out to adulthood marriege and eventually slowing down. It could weigh me down at some points and only 'make me laugh' at others.

Twenty five years and two wonderful girls later I have a great respect for the devastating effects that CF can have on health and general lifestyle. Even though the song does not posess an identical meaning these days, it does help invigorate me to working out on those days wherein I need an oldtime boost.

"Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult......I also have a 1972 Cadillac Hearse I want to trick out and during my recovery from my transplant I wore my "I'd rather be driving my hearse" shirt. My doctor asked me what it was about and I asked him "Would you rather drive it or ride in it". I understand I ultimately won't win the battle but I plan on making the Reaper wait a long time. I was 53 years old three days ago. Hang in there y'all, if for no other reason than to tick him off. Kaiser Willy

Selah Sue - This World

I feel real danger,
This world ain't simple,
But im strong, I know how to get out

And i'll find my way, cause
cause it's love, real simple
Thats how it works
oo-ooh

So won't you just give it up, cause you don't understand
Big it up, but you don't understand

-whispering-
This world, this time
I feel, explode

And its really nice, but you don't understand
So big it down, cause you don't understand

-whispering-
This world, this time
I go for less

Cause you don't understand, baby

I feel its falling down,
I know I'll catch it
You crazy world, crazy world
I feel real passionate
You feel the sun comes down
Make it shine eh
You crazy world, crazy world e-ee

oh ya-h
d-uh

I can see your fear, cause
this world aint simple

but I'm strong
I know how to stay out
and I'll find my way cause,
cause its love, its love,
its love, its love,
its love n'yee
ooh ooh

So won't you just give it up cause you don't understand
Big it up cause you don't understand

-whispering-
This world, this time
I feel, explode

And it's really nice but you don't understand
So big it down, cause you don't understand

-whispering-
This world, this time
I go for less

e-ee
Cause you don't understand, baby

I feel it's falling down
I know I'll catch it
You crazy world, crazy world ye-ee
I feel real passionate
You feel the sun come down
I'll make it shine e-ee
You crazy world, crazy world ye-ee

I know
I know
Yea yea aaah

I feel its falling down
I know I'll catch it
You crazy world, crazy world ye-ee
I feel real passionate
You feel the sun comes down
I'll make it shine e-ee

You crazy world, crazy world ye-ee
Crazy world, crazy world ye-ee
Crazy world, crazy world ye-ee

Meant to live by Switchfoot.
I can never listen to it and not think of my CF. Makes me and to keep fighting and prove we truly were meant for so much more.

"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
